Blood Type Inheritance Science

What is Blood Type Inheritance
Blood type is classified based on the presence of antibodies and genetic antigens on red blood cells.
Blood type is inherited, representing the genetic inheritance from both parents. The two most important blood type systems are ABO and Rh systems.
Is Blood Type Inheritance Calculation Accurate
Blood type inheritance calculation is based on genetic principles to calculate possible and impossible baby blood types, which is theoretically accurate. However, it is important to note that this calculation is based on probability, and the actual blood type of the child may not fully match the calculation results.
In addition, blood type inheritance calculation also has some limitations and prerequisites. For example, the calculation results assume that the blood types of the parents are certain, but in reality, some people's blood types may not be clear or uncertain. In addition, blood type inheritance calculation also assumes that the gene types of the parents are certain, but in reality, some people's gene types may exist variations or mutations.
What is ABO Blood Type System
ABO system defines four blood types:
•A–cells have A-antigen, blood plasma has anti-B antibodies;
•B–blood plasma has B-antigen and anti-A antibodies;
•O-no antigen, but blood plasma has anti-A and anti-B antibodies;
•AB–has both A and B antigens, but no antibodies in blood plasma.
In genetics, blood type genes have two alleles, each allele has a genotype of A, B, or O. A and B are dominant, and O is recessive. So the combination of allele A and allele O is A type. Similarly, BO is B type, AA is A type, BB is B type, OO is O type, and AB is AB type.
Rh Blood Type System
In addition to the ABO system, Rh positive/negative is also inherited. Rh negative parents may have Rh negative children, and it is important to pay attention to the risk of hemolytic disease in newborns.
